5good little mic stand  Mar 13, 2012 By BFDow
I am very happy with the stand. I use it on my desktop to hold a microphone for a Dragon Dictate program (speech to print). I am able to position the mic exactly where I want it and not take up space in front of my keyboard. I am able to swing it out of the way when I want to, and when I swing it back, it is in the exact, right position. Like the other reviewers, I noticed that the base is a little light, so that when the boom is extended, the whole thing is wobbly. I just took a small black bag (I think it was the mic cover) put some change in it, and tied it to the other end of the boom. Works perfectly. I would recommend this stand to anyone who doesn't mind a little bit (really, a very little bit) of diddling around to have it work perfectly.

4Very good item  Oct 15, 2010 By The Real Deal
Great item, I use it for singer songwriter, home recording and it works great. I wish the base was a bit heavier though. I have a very heavy mic (Samson G Trak) and I had to get a 5 lb dumbell to put on top of the base so that I could extend the boom without it rocking back and forth. Others who have a normal size mic won't have that problem though.

4Good stand for the price  Oct 05, 2009 By Steve Marra "BigSteve"
I bought this for use as a desk stand for my podcast and it works fine. The only con is the base could be a bit heavier, I use a shock mount and a pop filter and when I xtend the boom it tips the stand over. I used gaffers tape to keep it from tipping.

Also the knobs are made of plastic if your a drummer i'd get a better stand this will not stand up to life on the road.

4Good but annoying.  Mar 10, 2012 By R. Rey
It's a nice stand but the fact it has tiny 3/8 inch threads for the mic holder is annoying. They could have included a tiny 5 cent nut adapter with the stand for standard microphones. So upon this discovery I had to order one and wait for it to come in. If you're aware of this before buying it, it's a good stand.

4Good for the price  Feb 15, 2012 By Glen Perry
This is a decent little mic stand, has a good adjustment range for a small stand. One fairly big problem is the base is way too light. But it's fixable if you put a 5 lb weight on the shaft above the base, that will take care of the tipping problem. Without extra weight you will not be able to extend the boom horizontally even with a light microphone. Also, the clutch that locks the boom angle in place, seems kinda cheap and quite hard to get tight enough. It's working good enough but not sure if it will last. All in all, if you're using it for light duty such as for home recording and don't need to constantly adjust it, it is well worth the price of it and a 5 lb weight. Order both at the same time, you'll need the weight.

Update: I finally had to fix the clutch (the handle you tighten to hold the boom angle). Maybe I just got a bad one but it was really hard to tighten and didn't hold the boom in place very well. I unscrewed the handle all the way off and took it apart and bent the outer metal plates closer together with pliers. You'll need some hefty pliers and a strong grip. So now when I tighten the handle it actually does what it's supposed to do and locks the boom in place. Before, it was not able to squeeze the outer metal plates in good enough to grip the plastic pieces inside. Be sure to replace the plastic parts with the 3 indents lined up properly with the 3 little bumps on the inside of the metal plates.

Now it's a good stand!
