| | Description | The Korg nanoPAD is a unique, exceptionally responsive pad that has inherited the terrific sensitivity and feel of the Korg padKONTROL, one of the most highly sought-after pad controllers on the market, in a smaller format! The Korg nanoPad offers 12 excellent feeling and highly responsive pads in a new, smaller footprint. In addition, a new Chord Trigger function lets you enter chords onto a single pad, helping you to make the most of the work surface as you create. The pads are also able to transmit control change messages, making this a great interface for soloing or muting mixer tracks, turning objects on and off, or triggering clips during your live performances. nanoPAD’s X-Y pad offers Roll and Flam modes, to help you lay down ultra-realistic drum grooves. The X-Y pad will also send MIDI CC (Control Change), making it a go-to interface for any parameter within your software that requires full range MIDI control such as pitch, cutoff, volume and beyond. With the KORG KONTROL Editor (downloadable free of charge from the Korg website) you can customize four scenes that address the pads and X-Y pad can be stored within nanoPAD to suit your control needs. That means you actually have access to 48 notes/chords, 60 MIDI controllers, or any combination of the two types of data at any given time. Also, select one of three velocity curves or a fixed velocity to tailor the nanoPAD to your touch. The nanoPAD also comes complete with a download code for Toontrack’s EZDrummer Lite, offering super-realistic, highly responsive drums in a convenient plug in, plus you can upgrade to the full version of EZDrummer for a special price, and a free downloadable Editor/Librarian to help you create setups to suit your specific control needs. | |

The Little Engine That can Dec 02, 2008

I am new to midi devices. I purchased a mixer with midi capabilities which opened me up to new possibilities. Soon after the mixer I purchased scratchlive and realized why midi is a great tool to incorporate into my setup. The one issue began when I realized to use midi meant to lose a portion of the mixers functionality. Thus the nanopad.
The size alone makes it worth the wait. Right out of the box, I was able to asign functions to the pads themselves. The use of the scenes multiplies the pads to the point where I have an abundance of trigger options. I have not used it in conjunction with the software yet (does not come with the unit). It must be downloaded from Korg. One con I will mention is that I wish the scenes could be moved in a two way fashion so that I can move between scene 1 and 2 with one click vs having to cycle 2 through 4 and back to one. However this is more of an annoyance not a deal breaker. I am amazed that I have gained all of this functionality for this low price. I feel like I owe somebody somewhere some more money. Then again in this economy. Enjoy

Poorly made and does not work. Jun 28, 2011
By tommyVT Believe the reviews, folks. more often than not this thing will be broken or soon be that way after buying it (mine was DoA - everything but pads worked). I never owned a Korg until now and I never will again.

Great for the price. Jan 22, 2010

I got this a few weeks after I got the Korg nanoKEY (midi keyboard), and I have to say it's significantly better than the nanoKEY in terms of build quality, but it's not without its flaws.
Pros: *It's inexpensive! It's one of the cheapest drum controllers on the market, so that's definitely attractive. *It's very sensitive. When I ordered it, I was expecting to have to hit it fairly hard to get a tone, but that's really not the case at all. If you barely touch it, it plays. *The roll and flam features are really cool, and much more interesting than I thought they would be.
Cons: *Day one, I noticed that the number 2 pad sticks occasionally. If you're trying to play quick notes on it, it can get really annoying, really fast. If you grab the sides and pull up on the pad, it un-sticks, and so far, it seems to be doing it less and less (I've had it about a month now), but it still DOES do it occasionally. *I use Ableton Live, and this drum controller works great with it, but in Live, the drums are laid out in a 4x4 grid and this controller uses a 2x6 grid. The two grids don't line up at all, and there's really no rhyme or reason for the order they ARE in (it appears to be completely random). The only saving grace is that the kick seems to always be on 7, the clap on 1, the hi-hats on 10 and 12, etc. This isn't awful, but it's a little strange.
Summary: It's a great buy for the money, but if your pad sticks, send it back! I didn't, but I'm kind of wishing I would have.

Killer, however.... Jan 29, 2009

Korg as usual did a great job with this unit and the price is great.
HOWEVER, What is up with the EZDrummer / ToonTrack, software?? Keep in mind this is not a Korg product, just something Korg thru in as a bundle so, I do not have an issue with Korg.
I Never got a response from EZDrummer / ToonTrack product key did not work, email support did not work, password retreval did not work, validation did not work. Simply left me hanging with NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT and never got to use there product. Got caught up in a loop of a crappy website and support. I had met them at the 2009 NAMM show in LA, Nice but no thanks If you can't provide simple access to help or back you your products I AM NOT interested. Not friendly at all. I will get my software from a reliable source. So sad
Nanopad arrived with Stuck Keys, Fairly easy to resolve, now works great! Feb 05, 2012
By Paul in Austin Mine arrived with only 6 of the 12 pads working. In Ableton I recorded a midi track and ableton showed that most of the buttons were held down. I didn't particularly want to return such a cheap item so I searched the web for solutions. After finding many ideas including gluing extra pieces around the bottom of each pad to lift them (no!), I finally found a solution that looked credible on youtube. Basically you take it apart and you will find two plastic films glued together each containing a circuit, as those come together they register a key-press. All you have to do is pull them apart and stick them back together and "et voila!" works perfectly. My model had a manufacturing data back in 2009 so I guess it had been stacked in a pile of boxes and got stuck down. Follow the video, be careful to pull the two pieces of plastic apart rather than pulling the pair off the back metal plate.
Here's the link... [...]
Just in case links don't work, it is the usual main youtube address plus /watch?v=BuomrJNd0cM
Now that it works and I have resolved my latency problems in Ableton, it is an excellent addition to my setup.
