1Inherently flawed design - not recommended  Mar 06, 2011 By Drive-In Kid
I don't understand the positive reviews on this item. The reasons are obvious if you look at the picture. The footprint of the base is quite small, which some may believe is an advantage because you can place the stand in tight spots. To compensate for this the base is rectangular, the idea being to offset the weight of the microphone attached to the boom with a longer "foot" on one side of the base.

The problem is depending on how far the boom is extended and the microphone used the stand will still tip over quite easily. The size and weight of the base are not enough to maintain stability. Any good sized condenser mic will tip this stand over. As mics are expensive I don't think this will make you happy. The other issue is that the boom must be exactly perpendicular to the long "foot" of the base. Any minor deviation either way and the stand falls over for that reason. I have an SM57 which is a pretty small mic and it isn't even stable with that.

The picture says it all. Imagine an $800 Sennheiser mic mounted on the end of the boom fully extended. Then look at the tiny base that is holding the whole thing up. Anyone walking by that even brushes lightly against either the stand or the cord is going to tip the stand over. Get a better boom stand with a larger, heavier base.

4Kick drum mic holder  Feb 06, 2009 By James Spot
I use this stand to hold a Shure B52 kick drum mic. It is even better at holding a mic up to a guitar amp. My heavy kick drum mic will tip it over if I go to full boom extension. Works pretty well for general purpose work - just can't go to full length on the boom to go deep into the drum. 4 stars vs. 5 because of this.

5It just works  Jun 16, 2010 By Kramer Drummer "SmartListener"
Not too much to be said about this product. Five pound base helps keeping mic in place. I use Audix D6 microphones with this stand and have no issues.

5Just what it says it is.  May 11, 2011 By John Reilly
This little boom mic stand gives you enough length to place the mic where you want it, and the base is heavy enough that it can balance even when the boom is fully extended.

5perfect  Jan 04, 2011 By Alan C. Hahn
Don't have one negative thing to say about this stand. Very sturdy, extremely configurable. I use it to hold an AudioTechnica pro condenser mic while I play classical guitar into it. The stand sits on a table and I can position it in exactly the right position and it won't move with its very heavy base.
