I bought 2 of these for my kit. They are solid stands and break down well. You cannot go wrong with Pearl Hardware!

I must say I love this RC stand. I love it so much that I bought a 2nd.
It is the lowest price hi quality boom stand on the market.
The hardware somehow manages to be light and tight and rigid and still manages to support the heaviest of RC's at full boom arm length.
My only disappointment and surprise is (and this is my 2nd stand), Pearl has elected to supply felts that are way too generous, almost exposing cymbals to the threads on the cymbal arm.
But this is easily remedied by switching to shorter felt.

I sold drums at a large retailer for years... Pearl's hardware is without peer in terms of overall design, usability, durability, price and quality. I seem to destroy all drum gear, and usually on a gig unfortunately, but the Pearl stuff stands up. DW hardware (other than the pedals) is a joke, as is Ludwig, Gibraltar... I really believe that Pearl hardware is the best overall gear on the market. WHATEVER you do, just don't buy the DW Taiwanese pot metal garbage... they charge WAAAY too much for it and it just strips, snaps, breaks all day long.

The 900 series Pearl hardware are solid and thick. One thing I like about this stand is that the base legs can be positioned at various angles and still give solid footing. I have them set midway up because I don't have as much floor space for my drums. I actually am only using it to hold a splash cymbal, but I use Pearl 900s for all my cymbals and together they make my set look pretty slick. In truth, most cymbal stands don't need to be nearly as solid or engineered as these, but they definitely make your set look better.
Follow up 5/26/11: I found a different way to use this for my ride cymbal. I turned the head upside down and hung my cymbal from the top. I saw a guy on TV playing a 1943 Slingerland set and that's how he did his ride cymbal. I've seen vintage drum kit photos, as well, and that's how they did it. There's no reason to believe that the sound is any different, but, still, hanging it that way adds a different feel to your set up and just seems more interesting to play it that way. Be sure to check sometimes to make sure the nut is tight, though. My cymbal fell off once because it came undone. Also, one advantage is that you can move the stand base in closer to the set, if you need the room.
