The RMP-5 strides to the front of the class, however, with its 54 onboard PCM sounds (including snare drums, kick, cymbals, and percussion instruments; the RMP-3 has no built-in sampled sounds) plus an external dual trigger input so you can add a kick and cymbal pad for drum kit practice. It rocks the Casba Nov 30, 2009

This thing does it all. It has voice count metronome that is very helpful, but you need an external audio source (headphones) for that. I hooked it up to my guitar amp and can use it as an addition to my drum set. I just took it with me on a road trip and practiced away those boring hours in the car. Its nearly silent to others around you when the headphones are on. Buy it!

This pad was recommended to me by a professional drummer. I bought it for my son who is 11 and is learning percussion. This is the most innovative marriage of technology to music I have seen. I own Guitar Hero but that is a toy compared to this professional quality musical instrument. It includes game (coach) modes where you are challenged to keep up with the drummer. It measures your speed of drumming and tells you how well you are doing. Many different drum sounds included. You must buy 9 volt battery or the optional power adapter. You must also hook it up to either headphones or a power amp, home theater receiver, or powered speakers to hear the rhythms. You'll also need the stand - Roland PDS-2. It is a marvel of technology and I applaud Roland for making this machine. It has helped my son advance to the top of his percussion section in band.
